Just few days ago, I went for an interview at outram park area in a freight company. Its an accounts related position and initially, the agent told me that the company is willing to pay max 1800. During the interview, the manager asked for my expected salary and I told her 1800 as well. She smile and shook her head and said :" you are so inexperience and all your past experience are temp assignments only. there's no point in taking high salary when you have no experience.I am only able to offer you about 1650 - 1800. "
The manager said that she will inform the agent regarding whether to hire me or not. And I felt quite sad after the interview after being criticised by her.
After the interview, I went home and the agent called. She told me that the company is paying 1650 and whether I want to accept. Considering for awhile, I decide to reject and told the agent my concern about the salary and said that I will only accept with 1800. Somehow, they negotiate with the company and finally manage to give 1700. After being persuade for so long, I decide to accept the position and was ask to head down to the agency the next day 9am to sign the contract. Not long after, the agent called again and said that the manager could not get the approval from the MD for the position. I am feeling damn angry cos they persuade me to take, then end up saying that its not approve. On the other hand, I think im glad that they did not want me cos I got the feeling that I will be having a hard time in there and also its because good things came a few days after that.
Went for interview on tue, wed and fri. Finally, one agent called to inform me that a company is interested in me and ask if I could start work on this coming monday. Its a 2 months contract, also an accounts position subject to extendable and a salary better than 1650. I really felt so relief. After signing the contract,accountant of former temp company called to offer me a salary of the same as the contract job and the location is near my house. Its really fated la. If only i did not sign the contract, then i will definitely go back to the former company.
Argh, finally can rest awhile. Rest meaning away from applying jobs everyday. Hope i do not need to repeat the same whole process 2 months later.
